Horatio B. Hackett Elementary School students browsed a Scholastic Book Fair and took home two free books of their choosing, in addition to Dog Man: Big Jim Begins, the newest title in the #1 worldwide best-selling graphic novel series by Dav Pilkey.
Dav Pilkey, the renowned author and illustrator of the Dog Man graphic novel series, generously donated the Scholastic Book Fair for students at the school as part of the launch of his newest book, Dog Man: Big Jim Begins. In total, students added 1,251 books to their personal libraries!
Hackett Elementary School has partnered with Book Trust for several years to support students in choosing and owning books and engaging in joyful reading experiences. As a long-standing, trusted sponsor of Scholastic Book Clubs, Book Trust was thrilled to bring this exciting opportunity to Hackett Elementary students.
“Book Trust has been a great addition to our school. It has fostered such a love for reading in our students,” said Alison Mort, a long-time teacher and the school’s Book Trust Manager. “Our students are so excited to choose their books and every year they ask if they will get to participate again. It’s an amazing program that we feel so fortunate to be a part of!”
Since 2018, Book Trust has partnered with the School District of Philadelphia to support more than 52,000 students in choosing and owning 887,246 books! The partnership continues in 2024-2025 with more than 50 schools participating.
