Book Trust announced today that nominations for the 2024-2025 Book Trust Teacher of the Year Award are open.
The Book Trust Teacher of the Year Award recognizes excellence and dedication to the Book Trust program, and honors those who go above and beyond in helping their students discover the joy and power of reading. This award celebrates teachers who find creative ways to use Book Trust in the classroom and aims to share their strategies with other educators and the Book Trust community.
“It was such an honor to be chosen as the Teacher of the Year!” says Kristin Schneider, recipient of the 2023-2024 Book Trust Teacher of the Year Award. “I really enjoyed sharing some of the ways we get our students to engage with books and our school’s greater reading community. Students were more willing to select books outside of their typical genres and experience new adventures due to our monthly genre studies.”
The magic of the Book Trust program takes place in the classroom. Each year thousands of teachers facilitate book selection, ordering, distribution, and fun activities in service of the Book Trust program. The personal libraries curated by students are possible because of these dedicated classroom teachers.
Nominations are open March 24 through April 7. Nominations may be submitted by anyone—Book Trust Managers, principals, librarians, educators, donors, parents, and caregivers—to honor a teacher’s efforts and share the creative ways they use Book Trust in their classroom.
The 2024-2025 Teacher of the Year Award includes $2,500 for the school of the winning educator and $1,000 for the school of the runner-up, as well as gifts for the teachers themselves.
