Lucille Colandro, author of the popular There Was an Old Lady book series, shared a message of congratulations and thanks with Book Trust Teacher of the Year Kristin Schneider.
Kristin teaches third grade at STEM Launch in Thorton, CO and has participated in the Book Trust program for two years. She received the 2023-24 Book Trust Teacher of the Year award for creating a welcoming classroom environment for book selection that encourages students to explore their interests and aspirations.
To celebrate this achievement, Lucille filmed a short video to be shared with Kristin and her class. This was especially exciting as Lucille’s book, There Was an Old Lady Who Swallowed a Turkey, was one of the top tiles chosen by Book Trust students in the 2023-24 school year.
“You are a champion of literacy,” Lucille tells Kristin. “Your school and your community are stronger because of your advocacy.”
