Adriana is a mother of three Book Trust students and an everyday literacy hero who inspires the joy of reading in her children. “It is very neat to see the eagerness and excitement to read new books and get those first reactions to the story,” she says. “New books from Book Trust always create more excitement about reading!” Her children couldn’t agree more.
Six-year-old Kai says, “When I read books, I feel happy because every time I read a story something makes me so excited and makes my heart beat faster. I get so excited and want to read them forever!”
While Kai and other young readers are developing essential literacy skills like phonics and fluency in the classroom, Book Trust complements this learning by providing books they’re excited to read. This motivation helps children persevere if reading becomes challenging.
Adriana’s seven-year-old daughter, Melody, finds humor and happiness in books too. “I like to read because books are funny, and they help me sound out new words. When I read books, I feel happy, and I feel excited!” she says.
Adriana makes reading a priority, supporting her three children in reading five to seven times each week. This includes her youngest, Jonah, whose favorite title is Pete the Cat!
Her commitment to regular reading routines is precisely the type of family engagement Book Trust aims to foster, creating reading environments that extend beyond the classroom.
